Assessment

Find out what is getting in the way of learning.

More than half of the phone calls that we receive at Townsend Learning Center are parents who are worried that their children are not doing well in school. Many other calls are from adults returning to school, or having difficulty at work due to a problem in basic reading, writing, or math. They all want to know: What is getting in the way of learning?

There are many assessment tools that will answer that question in very specific detail. Our assessments provide information about a person's learning style, aptitudes, and skills.  Our full psychoeducational battery can diagnose special learning problems, such as a specific learning disability or dyslexia. We design each assessment to address specific concerns.

Townsend Learning Center assessments include a personal, interpretive conference and a comprehensive report written by our testing professionals.  Our reports explain test results and include recommendations for classroom accommodations for any learning disability identified in testing.  These accommodations may be applied to Individual Education Plans (IEP's).  In addition, our reports include recommendations for strengthening skills through strategies that enhance learning style.  With advanced notice, we will prepare reports to meet deadlines to qualify for academic accommodations at the primary, secondary, and college levels and for SAT/ACT and other standardized academic testing.

Jeff Rindsberg, Psy.D. is the clinical director for all assessments that include formal IQ testing and AD/HD assessment
